Tractor Tires

Used tractor tires and more

If you own a tractor, you know the importance of having good tires. Your vehicle must work through diverse terrain and all types of weather conditions, so you need tires that are going to carry it through any task you need to perform. There are many different types of tractor tires out there. Choose the ones that are right for your type of tractor and you’ll be able to get the job done without encountering any traction problems.

Choosing Tractor Tires

Before choosing a tire, you’ll need to know what kind of tire you’ll need for the tractor you’re using. There are many different kinds of tractor tires. Some include:

  • Lawn tractor tires and lawnmower tires. These are tires that outfit your lawn tractor. They normally have medium traction and allow you to drive your tractor or steer your lawnmower over thick grasses or muddy fields. They may also go through snow nicely if you use your tractor as a snow plow in the winter.
  • Garden tractor tires. Like lawn tractor tires, these have medium-to-heavy treads and allow you to plow your way through thick mud or grass.
  • Farm tractor tires. These are the heaviest of all the tractor tire types. Farm tractor tires are normally tall and thick, and allow you to drive on the road and through fields no matter what the conditions. They are very heavily treaded and can even go through thick snow and ice.

Once you have chosen the tractor tire you need, decide if you want to buy tires new or used. Used tractor tires offer a much better deal, since you’ll pay a lot less for expensive tires, but unless you’re using these as replacements, they may not be the best option for a tractor that has to work all summer and winter. New tractor tires can be found at farm and commercial truck stores, or even online for slightly less money than you would pay at a retail store.

Tractor tires are important to maintain a smooth ride, full functionality and optimal safety. Choose the right tractor tire and you’ll be able to work all season.
